Become a VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are now needed to support the UNSEEN Arts Hub in 2022 to:

  • Assist audience members by answering questions about the project and the opportunities it provides.
  • Offer information about services for women experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness.
  • Ensure our COVID-19 plan is adhered to.

To express your interest in becoming an UNSEEN volunteer, please scroll for dates, times and locations for which we are seeking volunteers to assist onsite during each month and email Belinda Mason on photography@belindamason.com  with your preferences. For full details of the events go to our What’s On, Where and When page.

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers from Women’s Electoral Lobby, Soroptimist International, and Blur Projects who have supported the activations of the UNSEEN Arts Hub throughout 2021.

November 2022

Between 24 – 27 November 2022, during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the UNSEEN Arts Hub will be activated at Centenary Square in Parramatta. This activation introduces Aunty Jacqui who will be holding Trauma Informed Yoga sessions followed by a collaborative weaving project, “Weaving Stories”. Women from Bonnie Support Services who identify as culturally and linguistically diverse have been embroidering  pillows, to reflect their stories of what home means to them. Sera, who just completed her studies with Art Gilding Pty Ltd as a Master Gilder with the support of Blur Projects, Every Voice and YWCA will be Artist in Residence at the UNSEEN Arts Hub in Parramatta showcasing her creative skills. Fiona’s incredible installation “Walk a mile in my shoes”, enables women to share their stories through the shoes they wear. Each pair of shoes in the installation is accompanied by a tag which has the personal handwritten story of the owner on it. Jai will be making her podcast ‘Thankfulness’ on her chrome couch, Aunty Peta’s amazing paintings will be installed in the gallery window of the Tiny House. In the evening, hosted by Bonnie Support Services, there are events led by women with lived experience of  housing insecurity and homelessness who represent the diversity of women who find themselves unexpectedly homeless. On the Sunday is a market held by the women. This activation is supported by the City of Parramatta, Bonnie Support Services, Museum of Understanding Through Tolerance and Inclusion, Homelessness NSW and Western Sydney University. Please contact us if you wish to volunteer on site during this activation.
